Semester 2, Week 13 (Part 2): TwinMotion

Image
TwinMotion really feels like a game you’re playing rather than a rendering and modelling programme. I think this is to do with the presentation of its options in a Hi-def, detailed fashion. I enjoyed making this plan for some friends and helping them understand the perimeter, suntrap space in their garden a bit better.

Semester 2, Week 13 (Part 1): SuDS by Design

Image
On a recent trip to Manchester I was surprised to see examples of highly desirable locations which had multi-functional purpose as SuDS. I saw a rain garden treating and absorbing surface water runoff from roads, tree pits on the high street and a wetland installed with coir mesh rolls growing vegetation (I assume for the purposes of silt removal or bank stabilisation)

Semester 2, Week 12 (Part 2): Productive spaces

Image
On a recent trip to london I visit Clapham Common. There I came across a vegetable garden that was being actively tended to. It these initiatives are successful then why aren’t there more? It’s unfortunate to say but the interest in the capital seems to be less about the pursuit of a sustainable world than it is about chasing money..

Semester 2, Week 12 (Part 1): Lighting Scene

Image
As part of the sequential sketches for a project I decided to light a dark scene. I used the same techniques as I’ve discussed in a previous post but this time lit a scene in sideways on perspective. It was a little more difficult to get the angles right compared to top down view but I think the results are effective. The best part is the dappled light up the green wall and the on stage lighting,

Semester 2, Week 11 (Part 2): Triadic colour combination

Image
I visited my niece & nephew in London and notice the colour combination used on her shoes was an example of triadic colour (yellow, red & blue). It’s funny how this design module is making me look at things around me with fresh eyes.

Semester 2, Week 11 (Part 1): Cross Sections

Image
I’ve been developing my rendering skills on photoshop and feel happy with a new technique I’m using. I used to have 100s of layers but now I put each related layer in a folder and can quickly search for the layer I need. I made this cross section using that new admin technique and found it very helpful.
